Welcome back to my site, guys! Today’s post is a rank of the 5 foundations I rotate between, in which I’ll also review price, formula, if I’d repurchase again etc. So, let’s begin!
Hello! Today I have a new “favourites” post which mostly consists of products that I almost always end up reaching for with a few new products thrown in as well.
The L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer is a new addition to my makeup collection, but it’s proven to live up to its hype! I like the soft sheen/glow it gives me and it really adds to the fact that L’Oreal is a great makeup line! A little of this product goes a long way!
I’ve also been loving the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Matte Primer. At first I was a little weary of how much product was in the jar because I hit pan early, but I’m still using it after about a month and half. I like that it helps to mattify my foundation, especially on long shifts at work. I’m actually surprised by how much I prefer this primer now to the others that I’ve tried (including Tarte and e.l.f.)!
My every day blush that I reach for is Hard Candy’s Fox in a Box – Skinny Dipping. This is a combination bronzer/blush package, however the bronzer is a little glittery and tends to come off more as orange so I don’t use it. But the blush is an orange/coral colour and I’m constantly reaching for it. It’s nice to use in the spring and summer when coral colours are on point.
I’ve been using the Maybelline Made for Mocha eyeshadow to fill in my brows with lately. I had hit pan on the taupe colour from the Lorac pro palette and wanted to try to savour any of that eyeshadow left so I needed to find another brown shade quickly. I picked this up about a month ago, and I think it looks great on. It doesn’t make my eyebrows look wonky or out-there so I think I will continue to use this product.
The last three products I’ve been loving and using a lot lately are the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner and Revlon’s Lash Potion in Black.
I’ve been wearing some bold eye looks often and using Milk has helped for the eyeshadows to appear brighter and stop with creasing. It’s a fave for sure in my collection!
I’m rocking the winged eyeliner recently too, and I’ve had the gel eyeliner for quite some time but usually only wear it a couple times a month. But I’ve been using it a lot lately and since I don’t have a dedicated eyeliner application brush, I like using the brush that comes with it. For how long I’ve used eyeliner, I’m still not that good at making symmetrical wings on each eye though…. hmmm.
Lastly, I still love my Wet N Wild mascara, but I have been changing it up recently and selecting the Lash Potion to wear. It’s supposed to help grow the lashes I think (not sure if that part works – me thinks not!) but it gives my eyelashes the boosts it needs for a day’s work!
When I’m bored, I like to wander around Walmart and look at stuff which usually ends in me buying some makeup/hair products. So here are a few things I picked up this evening. I’ve been trying not to spend a lot of money lately so I tried buying only things I either really needed, were on sale, or that I’ve been after for a while.
The first thing I bought is the Be Better Professional Argan Oil Conditioner. I’ve heard positive reviews about using products with argan oil/macadamia oil in them so I thought I would try this product out. Also helped that this was on sale for $3.99!
I picked up another Wet N Wild Megalast Lipstick in the colour Think Pink. I now have a total of seven from the collection; I think I’m addicted.
The next thing I bought was one of the single eyeshadows from Maybelline in the shade Made for Mocha. I thought that this would be a good colour to fill in my brows with. I’m currently using the Taupe colour from the Lorac Pro palette and I’ve started to hit pan which makes me anxious, so I thought finding another colour for my brows might make me a little less worried if that makes sense. This eyeshadow was $4.50 from Walmart.
I’m clearly addicted to buying foundation products. I have about 3 and a half on the go currently, but I decided I needed another one. So, I’m going to test out the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I really enjoy using my Aveeno BB cream, but I would like to try another out and Maybelline has always proved me right in its foundation products. (I used the Rimmel Matte BB cream, and it’s absolutely horrible in the fact that it breaks me out every time I’ve used it, so hopefully this one is much better.) This was $7.69 from Rexall.
I have wanted to try the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer for ages and decided to splurge and buy it. I’ve heard great reviews from beauty gurus on YouTube about this product and cannot wait to try it. I’m hoping that although I have combo skin that the pearly finish won’t make my skin look too oily but rather dewy instead. This was $13.96 from Walmart.
I bought the L’Oreal Brazen Bolds eyeshadow quad in the colour What Happens in Vegas about a week and a half ago, and thought I would do a little review on it.
For starters, I’ve never used L’Oreal eyeshadows (or at least I don’t believe I’ve had) and Shoppers was having a reduced price sale, so I was able to pick up the quad for about $7 (which is a steal in Canada). I chose the What Happens in Vegas quad because I like the neutral tones of the colours, and the peach stood out to me.
When I first used it, I actually didn’t like it all that much. I just liked the peach colour which has great colour payoff, and is more of a peachy-orange tone. The shimmery brown colour is disappointing. It’s streaky and chalky, and I prefer using other brown colours I have to that colour.
At first glance, the shimmery colour below the peach shadow looks like a white/cream colour but it actually leans more towards a golden yellow colour. Safe to say, not good for highlighting under the brow, but works well in the inner tear duct.
The colour I was most surprised to find myself liking is the mustard colour. It’s less shimmery and more mattifying than the other three colours and works great as a transition colour. I tend to wear a neutral/brown eye most days and have been reaching for this colour to put in my crease and help to transition the other colours better.
Overall, I would rate this quad a 3.5/5. The brown shadow is a little disappointing, but the other three colours work great. For the price they usually sell at, I’m not sure if I would repurchase again, but for $7, it’s a pretty good steal.
