Palette Collection | Tarte Cosmetics

Good afternoon all! I hope you are having or have had a lovely Sunday! It feels weird to know that I have to go back to work tomorrow for a full week after being off for almost all the winter break. I love my job and am excited but am not feeling like getting up at 7am tomorrow to get to work on time!

However, I am excited to play around with my newest eyeshadow palette; the Tarte Tarteist Pro palette. I was able to pick it up while my sister and I went to Buffalo for a few days last weekend. It is so beautiful and I have had my eye on it for a while but here in Canada, the palette retails for $79 with tax, and that is just too much. So, I was able to pick it up in Buffalo for only $53 with their tax and am very happy that I’ve added it to my collection.

I love the brand Tarte. I adore their blushes; they are probably my favourite formula that I have tried. I like their mascara, and I love their eye shadows. I own 5 of their makeup palettes, the most of any one brand in my collection, and so I have decided to share my thoughts and swatches of these palettes with you!

Project Pan | 2018

Okay guys, I think I’m back. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to get back into writing, and I just haven’t felt the tug to continue with the book I started writing just yet, but I’ve wanted to get back into posting on this blog. I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep my blog domain name the same but for now it stays, along with all of my old posts in case you want to make me cringe while you read them.

I really want to focus this blog mostly on beauty and fitness. I love makeup; that’s a fact. But, I just recently received a Fitbit from my parents this Christmas and I’m trying hard this year to focus on becoming the best me that I can be and that means getting healthy. So I’m thinking some weekly Fitbit updates, posts on me trying out new recipes etc. I don’t want to focus too much on the scale – as that is what has kept me from continuing on getting fit in the past; I am very impatient and when I don’t see results, I quit. So, I will not be weighing myself regularly.

My aim for this blog in 2018 will be to do at least one post a week. That can’t be too hard, can it?

So, for my first post back (along with this lovely update for you all) is ….. a Project Pan for 2018!

October Favourites | Beauty, Books, Entertainment

Hi guys! Welcome back! Today’s post features all of my favourites for the month of October. Normally, I don’t do these types of posts (I actually hate watching these videos on YouTube), but I do have more “lifestyle” favourites over my beauty faves so I think this will be a little more interesting for me. Enjoy!

BEAUTY

1. Dream Fresh BB Cream by Maybelline in Light

I was sick for the first week or so of October, so I ended up wearing a much lighter coverage foundation because I barely wanted to wear makeup at all. They redesigned the Dream Fresh BB cream, but I think I do actually find a little bit of a difference with it, and I think I prefer it! It’s a little more coverage than the previous formula and the “grapefruit” scent you cannot smell much of at all, which is great since I hate grapefruit. But anyways, a great favourite to come back to!

2. Graveyard Girl Swamp Queen Palette from Tarte

I love this palette! I do not know why it got such bad reviews from some YouTubers. Yes, the shades are powdery but I find most of Tarte eyeshadow palettes are. The burnt orange shade called Dogman is my favourite! The bronzer in the palette leans a little orange, but the blush is great and the highlighter OH THE HIGHLIGHTER is amazing! A little goes along way throughout the entire palette. Well worth the cost!

3. NYX single eyeshadow in the shade Suede

A great transition colour, and while I do have a lot of cool toned browns, this one leans more warm which I love!

4. Lip Balm

Just lip balm in general for the month of October! My lips get dry when it starts getting colder, so I’ve been reaching for my Revos and EOS lip balms a lot over the past month or so.

5. Bath and Body Works’ Pumpkin Apple Cider Body Spray and Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte Body Wash

I’m not usually a fan of pumpkin smells but gosh darnit these two are amazing! Especially the body wash! Their fall sale grabbed me and I splurged!

BOOKS

1. Tami Hoag’s The Bitter Season

Two crimes in one? Oh yeah! Kovac and Liska back at it again? Oh Yeah! A gruesome and creepy murder mystery? OH YEAH!

2. Amy Schumer’s The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo

Didn’t finish this book until a few days ago, but had to include it. Yes, her book is hilarious and raunchy and all the things you would expect that would come out of Amy Schumer’s mouth but she writes it from her own perspective and she does write about situations that I didn’t know she went through like sexual assault and domestic abuse. She writes about her dad and his diagnosis with MS. The book is funny and hysterial and raw and real and sad. It’s great.

MUSIC

1. Closer by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey

My two faves collaborate on a song? OH YEAH!

2. Side to Side by Ariana Grande ft. Nicki Minaj

I didn’t want to like this because I’m not a fan of Ariana, but it’s so damn catchy!

3. K Theory Remixes

Just listen to all of this artist’s remixes. Eargasms.

TV

1. That 70s Show – I’ve been marathoning this on Netflix and I did not realize how hilarious this show was!

2. Law and Order SVU – Again, I’ve been picking and choosing episodes off of Netflix and keeping up with the new season, but I just love it! I love crime shows!

3. Chicago P.D. – One of the best police shows ever! A great cast, and I’m very sad that Jon Seda is leaving for the new Chicago Justice series.

4. How to Get Away with Murder – do we see a theme here? This season is already much better than last season! I haven’t watched this week’s episode yet, but I’m hoping that it’s not Frank in the house fire!

I think that’s all my favourites this month! I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks 🙂

Lipstick Collection: Wet N Wild Megalast & Revlon Super Lustrous

Hi guys! Today I bring you Part 1 of my lipstick collection! I’m not sure how many parts there will be to this post, but I do have many lipsticks (over 50?) and I’m going to try to split them up by brand, and then do the random lipsticks in a post all there own.

For today’s post, we’re talking about the Wet N Wild Megalast and the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks since I own a good chunk of each.

Makeup Declutter

Hi guys! Over the weekend I decided to go through my makeup and throw out any I don’t use or separate out a pile for my sister to go through before I throw the rest away. I’m moving out soon so I’ve been cleaning lately and trying to downsize the clothes, makeup and just general junk I have.

I thought that I would share with you briefly what I’m getting rid of from my collection. Enjoy!

Liquid Lipstick Collection: Review and Swatches!

Hi everyone! After a long hiatus, I really want to get back into posting at least a couple times a month here and thought it would be great to start off with a product that I absolutely love – liquid lipsticks!

At first I was very skeptical trying out this product. My lips tend to get very dry, very quickly wearing matte lipsticks but I decided to purchase a few. The longevity of the product is what won me over and now I have 11 liquid lipsticks in my collection.

Summer Makeup & Half Top Knot Hair Tutorial

photo 3 (8)In this post here, I show you how to achieve the half-up top knot hair tutorial, as well as show you some simple summer makeup I’ve been wearing lately. Enjoy!

First, I prime my face. I’ve been testing out the Maybelline Master Prime and so far I’m liking it. Maybelline is one of my favourite lines from the drugstore, so I’m always willing to try their products over others.

Next, for a lighter summer foundation, I’ve been mixing my L’Oreal Lumi True Match foundation with the Covergirl BB Cream to give me some light to medium coverage whilst still not having my makeup feeling “heavy” overall. After this, I add my usual Rimmel concealer stick to cover up any blemishes or zits on my face. For my under eyes today, I used my Lancôme concealer (which I had misplaced for months now, but finally found!).

I set my foundation with my Rimmel Matte face powder and then added the new bronzer I’ve been trying from their line, as well as the Hard Candy Fox in a Box blush in the shade Skinny Dipping to my cheeks.

Moving on to the eyes! By this point I’ve lightly filled in my brows using the Made for Mocha shade my Maybelline. I primed my eyes with Nyx’ jumbo eye pencil in the shade Milk to make the shadows pop, and smudged it out with my finger.

I’ve been texting out this Wet N Wild palette I bought in the name California Roll. The top two colours I used all over my lid. The orange colour I lightly swept over my crease blending it out. Finally, I added in the red colour with a pencil brush in the outer v and into my crease where I blended it out with a blending brush.

photo 4 (5)

After I curled my lashes and then added my favourite mascara over top!  Next, moving on to the hair.

photo 3 (6)

To start you’ll need: a curling wand, hair spray, a thin hair tie, teasing comb, and some bobby pins.

photo 1 (7)

You’re going to start off by sectioning out the top portion of your hair and securing it with the hair tie.

photo 2 (7)

Next, you want to take your teasing comb and tease individual sections of that pony tail.

photo 3 (7)

Now’s the tricky part: you want to take your pony and wrap it around the base of it (where the tie is) until you come to your desired bun shape. It can take a couple tries. It took me about 5 mins or so to finally get my bun right. Once you have the shape, you’re going to secure it with bobby pins. Just start pinning the heck out of it until you feel like it’s not going to fall out if you move around. I probably have about 10 pins in my hair here. So, you could keep your hair like this and be done, but my hair doesn’t really have volume so that’s why I decided to curl it.

photo 4 (6)

First, I just section off my hair right side from left, and tie one side with another hair tie so it doesn’t interrupt me while I curl the other section.

Then, I take individual sections of hair in each portion and curl it with my wand. I like to curl a few pieces towards my face and a few away from my face to add more volume.

photo 1 (8)

I do this to both sides of my hair until voila! it’s all done. I spray the heck out of my bun and my curls and I’m ready to go!

photo 2 (8)

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! I hope to continue to get the urge to post again soon! 🙂
