Beauty Products I’m Travelling With | May 2018

Hello All! In just a short few days, I will be headed to the lovely state of Texas for a conference. I’ve never been to Texas so I am quite excited. I work in retail as a store manager and every year the company that I work for has a conference in a nice, warm place (past conferences have been in California and Florida) and it’s a great work experience that I am truly grateful I get to attend.

I thought I would share today the beauty products that I intend to take with me when I go. Enjoy!

Anti-Haul #1

Hello All! I love watching anti-hauls on YouTube and seeing what people are either not that hyped about or just plain dissing the brand and collection. It’s refreshing to see people not rave about every new collection that comes out. Today, I’m rounding up a few beauty and makeup items and releases that I won’t be buying and tell you why. Hope you enjoy!

1. Wet N Wild Festival/Unicorn Collection – here

I’m just over the super shimmery and duochromatic shades of lipstick, eye shadows and highlighters. The lipsticks aren’t universally flattering and the highlighters are not “every day” highlighters, so it’s money that would not be going to good use.

2. Anastasia Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette – here

I actually do not own any of the ABH eyeshadow palettes. The only one that I am sad that I missed out on is the controversial Subculture palette. But the ABH Soft Glam is boring. There’s no oompf to it. I have all of these shades in palettes I already own so I don’t need to spend $55 to create similar looks to what I can already do.

3. KKW X Mario Palette – here

I am not a fan of the Kardashians especially Kim. So, it will come as no surprise that I have no interest in purchasing the KKW X Mario palette. The palette looks similar to shades I already own except for that pop of blue; but I have never worn blue eye shadow all over my lid and I know that I won’t so even with the pop of colour it still does not pique my interest. Also for 10 eyeshadows, the palette is $45.

4. Fenty Beauty Body Lava Luminizer – here

I am pale; like darn pale. I rarely self-tan, and I mostly burn when out in the sun. The Body Lava by Fenty looks beautiful from the Instagram videos I’ve seen but I just have no desire to use it. The reviews are also pretty bad for it; claims that the luminizer doesn’t dry down and leaves the skin feeling sticky.

5. Any and all Natasha Denona palettes

I just can’t understand anyone who willing pays over $100 for an eyeshadow palette. Half of the reviews I have watched claimed that the eyeshadows are not up to par for the high price point.

What are some beauty items you have no interest in buying? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

Ride or Die Makeup Favourites | 2018

Hi guys! I recently watched a video on YouTube about how if all my makeup were to suddenly disappear, which ones would I need to go out and repurchase right away! Basically the makeup favourites that I know will never fail me. I thought that I would share with you my Ride or Die makeup favourites that are either relatively new to me or have been with me for several years now.

Let’s get started!

Products I’ve Been Loving Lately: Go-To Favourites

Hello! Today I have a new “favourites” post which mostly consists of products that I almost always end up reaching for with a few new products thrown in as well.

The L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer is a new addition to my makeup collection, but it’s proven to live up to its hype! I like the soft sheen/glow it gives me and it really adds to the fact that L’Oreal is a great makeup line! A little of this product goes a long way!

I’ve also been loving the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Matte Primer. At first I was a little weary of how much product was in the jar because I hit pan early, but I’m still using it after about a month and half. I like that it helps to mattify my foundation, especially on long shifts at work. I’m actually surprised by how much I prefer this primer now to the others that I’ve tried (including Tarte and e.l.f.)!

My every day blush that I reach for is Hard Candy’s Fox in a Box – Skinny Dipping. This is a combination bronzer/blush package, however the bronzer is a little glittery and tends to come off more as orange so I don’t use it. But the blush is an orange/coral colour and I’m constantly reaching for it. It’s nice to use in the spring and summer when coral colours are on point.

I’ve been using the Maybelline Made for Mocha eyeshadow to fill in my brows with lately. I had hit pan on the taupe colour from the Lorac pro palette and wanted to try to savour any of that eyeshadow left so I needed to find another brown shade quickly. I picked this up about a month ago, and I think it looks great on. It doesn’t make my eyebrows look wonky or out-there so I think I will continue to use this product.

The last three products I’ve been loving and using a lot lately are the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner and Revlon’s Lash Potion in Black.

I’ve been wearing some bold eye looks often and using Milk has helped for the eyeshadows to appear brighter and stop with creasing. It’s a fave for sure in my collection!

I’m rocking the winged eyeliner recently too, and I’ve had the gel eyeliner for quite some time but usually only wear it a couple times a month. But I’ve been using it a lot lately and since I don’t have a dedicated eyeliner application brush, I like using the brush that comes with it. For how long I’ve used eyeliner, I’m still not that good at making symmetrical wings on each eye though…. hmmm.

Lastly, I still love my Wet N Wild mascara, but I have been changing it up recently and selecting the Lash Potion to wear. It’s supposed to help grow the lashes I think (not sure if that part works – me thinks not!) but it gives my eyelashes the boosts it needs for a day’s work!

Products I’m Loving Lately: Beauty

Here is a short list of the current makeup products I have been loving and reaching for lately!

NYC’s High Definition Voluminizing Mascara – This is my new favourite drugstore mascara, and that’s saying a lot since I own about five currently. This mascara delivers on the volume! It lifts my lashes, and when I first tried it on I was amazed. The wand is a skinnier wand (which I prefer) so I’m able to maneuver the bristles to all of my lashes so they are all voluminized. Biggest plus for this product? I paid under $4 for it!

Aveeno’s Clear Complexion BB with SPF 30 – I bought this BB cream last year, and it was the first BB cream I tried out. I like that it’s a tinted BB cream because I only wear it during the summer when I’m tanned/burned so it evens out my skin tone. It’s a very light coverage, which I didn’t like too much last year, but since I’ve had less breakouts this year, I’ve enjoyed wearing it more. The smell is quite nice too; it’s a little perfume-y but not overpowering.

The Naked 3 Palette – This was a purchase I contemplated over for a while. I don’t own either of the first two palettes as I already own enough neutral/brown shades. It’s quite expensive here in Canada (about $60), but I had a leftover Sephora gift card and it was also my birthday so I decided to treat myself. At first, I didn’t like the palette. Some of the colours have some fallout or don’t have the best pigmentation, but after watching a few tutorials on YouTube, I found myself reaching for the palette almost everyday. It has a couple matte shadows that are nice to blend with, and the taupe-like shades towards the right are some of my favourites to use for a smokey eye.

Just a few of the shades. From L-R: Mauve, Garnet and Deep Purple.

The Lorac Pro Palette – I received this as a gift for Christmas and I was super excited to try it out because I had been wanting it for ages but it was always sold out on the Sephora website. The colour payoff with the eye shadows is amazing. I think they’re the best quality eye shadows I own. I’m actually sad that I’ve started to hit pan on a couple of the shades because I’m not even sure if I can find good enough dupes for them. If you’re looking for a new palette or are contemplating between this and any of the Naked palettes, I would choose this one.

Wet N Wild’s Megalast Lip Colour – These are my new favourite finds. Above are just four of the six shades I own, and I’m definitely plan on getting more! I found these randomly searching the makeup aisles in Walmart a couple months ago for about $2.85 each – a steal! These are great quality and great colour payoff! They are described as a semi-matte finish and I find them very moisturizing on the lips. The line has a variety of shades to choose from. But the best thing is that they are perfect dupes for high-end lipsticks like MAC. I have received some compliments wearing these lipsticks, and most of them are shocked to hear that they are from the brand Wet N Wild!
