Lipstick Collection: Wet N Wild Megalast & Revlon Super Lustrous

Hi guys! Today I bring you Part 1 of my lipstick collection! I’m not sure how many parts there will be to this post, but I do have many lipsticks (over 50?) and I’m going to try to split them up by brand, and then do the random lipsticks in a post all there own.

For today’s post, we’re talking about the Wet N Wild Megalast and the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks since I own a good chunk of each.

Makeup Declutter

Hi guys! Over the weekend I decided to go through my makeup and throw out any I don’t use or separate out a pile for my sister to go through before I throw the rest away. I’m moving out soon so I’ve been cleaning lately and trying to downsize the clothes, makeup and just general junk I have.

I thought that I would share with you briefly what I’m getting rid of from my collection. Enjoy!

Liquid Lipstick Collection: Review and Swatches!

Hi everyone! After a long hiatus, I really want to get back into posting at least a couple times a month here and thought it would be great to start off with a product that I absolutely love – liquid lipsticks!

At first I was very skeptical trying out this product. My lips tend to get very dry, very quickly wearing matte lipsticks but I decided to purchase a few. The longevity of the product is what won me over and now I have 11 liquid lipsticks in my collection.

Summer Makeup & Half Top Knot Hair Tutorial

photo 3 (8)In this post here, I show you how to achieve the half-up top knot hair tutorial, as well as show you some simple summer makeup I’ve been wearing lately. Enjoy!

First, I prime my face. I’ve been testing out the Maybelline Master Prime and so far I’m liking it. Maybelline is one of my favourite lines from the drugstore, so I’m always willing to try their products over others.

Next, for a lighter summer foundation, I’ve been mixing my L’Oreal Lumi True Match foundation with the Covergirl BB Cream to give me some light to medium coverage whilst still not having my makeup feeling “heavy” overall. After this, I add my usual Rimmel concealer stick to cover up any blemishes or zits on my face. For my under eyes today, I used my Lancôme concealer (which I had misplaced for months now, but finally found!).

I set my foundation with my Rimmel Matte face powder and then added the new bronzer I’ve been trying from their line, as well as the Hard Candy Fox in a Box blush in the shade Skinny Dipping to my cheeks.

Moving on to the eyes! By this point I’ve lightly filled in my brows using the Made for Mocha shade my Maybelline. I primed my eyes with Nyx’ jumbo eye pencil in the shade Milk to make the shadows pop, and smudged it out with my finger.

I’ve been texting out this Wet N Wild palette I bought in the name California Roll. The top two colours I used all over my lid. The orange colour I lightly swept over my crease blending it out. Finally, I added in the red colour with a pencil brush in the outer v and into my crease where I blended it out with a blending brush.

photo 4 (5)

After I curled my lashes and then added my favourite mascara over top!  Next, moving on to the hair.

photo 3 (6)

To start you’ll need: a curling wand, hair spray, a thin hair tie, teasing comb, and some bobby pins.

photo 1 (7)

You’re going to start off by sectioning out the top portion of your hair and securing it with the hair tie.

photo 2 (7)

Next, you want to take your teasing comb and tease individual sections of that pony tail.

photo 3 (7)

Now’s the tricky part: you want to take your pony and wrap it around the base of it (where the tie is) until you come to your desired bun shape. It can take a couple tries. It took me about 5 mins or so to finally get my bun right. Once you have the shape, you’re going to secure it with bobby pins. Just start pinning the heck out of it until you feel like it’s not going to fall out if you move around. I probably have about 10 pins in my hair here. So, you could keep your hair like this and be done, but my hair doesn’t really have volume so that’s why I decided to curl it.

photo 4 (6)

First, I just section off my hair right side from left, and tie one side with another hair tie so it doesn’t interrupt me while I curl the other section.

Then, I take individual sections of hair in each portion and curl it with my wand. I like to curl a few pieces towards my face and a few away from my face to add more volume.

photo 1 (8)

I do this to both sides of my hair until voila! it’s all done. I spray the heck out of my bun and my curls and I’m ready to go!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial! I hope to continue to get the urge to post again soon! 🙂

Fashion in Review III

Hi guys! I’ve been trying to remember to take some outfit selfies when I’m feeling fabulous but it’s been harder with the bathroom renos going on at my house. I did manage to get a couple photos in the past couple weeks, so here’s a glimpse of what I wore.

10310986_10152984348613197_8746564936030039202_n

I can’t believe that I actually purchased these shoes. Mind you, I bought them from Plato’s Closet for about $60, but still, I don’t think I’m ever going to wear them. I just love the Jeffrey Campbell shoes and especially the Litas! I came to the decision that I would be upset if another person bought them so I bought them instead. Right now, they’re in the box they came in in my closet, but maybe I’ll display them in my own apartment someday!

I know this isn’t the perfect picture, but I just love what I’m wearing! I have on my most comfiest leggings from H&M and the perfect t-shirt dress from Bluenotes, and the necklace I got from a friend for Christmas. I think I might rock this look at the conference I’ll be going to in May.

This next outfit is comfier outfit I wore to work. I just have some jeans on from Bluenotes, a Beauty and the Beast tank from Hot Topic, and a long gray cardigan from Costa Blanca. Super casual, but still fun.

I wore this outfit a couple days ago to work because I needed to feel like a bad b*tch and just feel super good about myself. The day before I had thrown up from eating too much salty bad food (and I haven’t purged like that in over 2 years so I just felt disappointed in myself) so I just need like a rocker outfit to tell myself that I am still effing awesome and strong no matter what. The cardigan is originally from Garage but I purchased it from Plato’s Closet and the dress is from the Forever 21+ line. The bun is my high bun (without a sock bun – all teasing all the time!)

Finally, this is the outfit I wore today! It was finally beautiful here near Toronto and I have been waiting to break out my maxi dress since Spring arrived. A friend and I walked along a lake/boardwalk today and it was gorgeous, so many people were out and enjoying the weather too. The dress is from H&M and I got it on sale there! The shoes that you can barely see are originally from Streetwear Society but I got them from Plato’s Closet.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I’m looking forward to more fashion posts with the beautiful spring/summer weather that hopefully will stay for quite some time! 🙂

My Hair Care and Styling Products

Hi Guys! Today’s post features the products that I use on my hair quite frequently and a little review on each of them!

1. Herbal Essences’ Naked Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner – I change up my shampoo and conditioner regularly, each time I finish a set. This time I’ve been using the Naked Moisture shampoo/conditioner from Herbal essences which claims to have no heavy residues, parabens and dyes. I’m not sure if I see a dramatic difference after each time I use this but it smells nice and I like Herbal Essences as a brand; I’ve liked pretty much every shampoo/conditioner I have used from them, so this is no different.

2. Denorex Therapeutic Dual Shampoo & Conditioner – I use the Denorex 2-in-1 Therapeutic shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week to control my psoriasis. You massage the product onto your head and leave for about 5 minutes. I like to wash my face/body, shave my legs if I have time, during the waiting part. It starts to get tingly and then you wash it off. The formula is supposed to help relieve itching, irritation, redness, flaking caused by dandruff or scalp psoriasis. I do notice a change after I use it and it does help to relieve the itching and irritation I get.

3. Regis Designline Ultimate Radiance Leave-In Conditioner – I got this product about two years ago from the hair salon I go to, and I tend to use it on the days I wash my hair with the Denorex product. Only because I feel like after I use the Denorex, my hair feels a little dry and so using the leave-in conditioner gives it some moisture and helps me brush my hair out easier.

4. ExquisiteOil Protective Treatment from Biolage – I got this from my friend about two years ago when she worked within a fashion magazine for her placement. She was always getting free products and gave some to her roommates, including me. The product is a serum infused with moringa, macadamia and argan oils. You can use the oil before shampooing, during conditioning, while styling or overnight as a treatment. I was originally using it overnight, but I felt like my pillow was getting oily so I’ve started to use it during conditioning. I use about 3 pumps (is that too much? it doesn’t say) mixed in with the amount of conditioner I use and my hair does feel shiny and nourished.

5. Herbal Essences Set Me Up Hairspray – They redesigned the cans, so I have the one that is a flexible hold hair spray and whenever I do finish it, I’ll get the one that’s the next step up. But, overall, it does it’s job and doesn’t leave my hair crunchy.

6. Tresemme Mousse – I’m not even sure what the name of the one I have is, but it’s not in the mousse collection anymore. But basically, I just put a pump in my hand, massage it through my damp hair and then do one of my braiding hairstyles overnight in which I get wave hair the next day. I think the mousse adds some extra hold to my hair since it’s fine and flat; I have no volume whatsoever, so I think this helps keep my curls intact.

Thanks for reading! Any products you think I should look into at all? 🙂

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past week; had to purchase a new laptop because my other computer battery was about to die, so I’ve been waiting until I bought my new one to upload pictures and such to it! Posts might be a little sparing for the next couple of weeks until I can figure out how to not lose all my music from iPod when I plug it in to this computer. Thank goodness for backups!

Makeup Setup and Storage

Hi Guys! So, I decided to clean my room tonight; it’s been a stressful day and I just needed to clean my space and organize everything before I relaxed in my room. After tidying up a little, I thought I would share with you how I set up and store my makeup, I mean, for the most part. By the end of the week, it gets disorganized again but this is how I’d like it to stay all the time, if it could!

Jewelry/Lip Product Storage
001
Let’s ignore the fact that you can see my computer screen shining bright (like a diamond) in the mirror. I store most of my lip products on my dresser because I don’t really have another place to put them near my actual makeup storage. I like how it looks though all display nicely. And then beside it, I have this large tower for my jewelry (mostly necklaces). Below are some closeups of how it’s displayed.

002

It’s kind of hard to get a good picture of this, but I really like this jewelry stand. It has four arms on top and four on the bottom with two “pegs”, I guess, on each arm so you can stack jewelry nicely. I can finally hang my longer necklaces! And then in the bottom portion, I store some bracelets I have.

003I just put out the third container (the right one) tonight to add more storage since my lip stick collection keeps growing!

005

The first container holds a couple glosses, in the bigger portion I’m just storing my remover and a couple lip balms, and then it has 12 slots to hold lipsticks.

006

The middle container actually has two parts to it. So, the top part holds 24 lipsticks and then you can remove the top part to store items in 3 compartments underneath. I just have extra lip balms and glosses I barely reach for down there for now.

007

In the third container, I’m just storing most of my glosses for now since you couldn’t really see them displayed nicely where they were before.

Makeup Desk
009Overview of the setup for my makeup.

011

In this corner here, I have my makeup mirror balanced on an old Claire’s palette that I don’t use anymore. Behind it is my desk lamp, which I use for extra lighting. The back brushes are the majority of my face brushes that I use everyday. And in my small makeup bag, I have my everyday face powder, my brow shade and eyebrow tools.

010On the top of the shelf storage, I have a selection of perfumes I use including full sized ones and samples.

012

On the left side of the shelf/cubby storage is my most reached for foundations/items. The pink brush holder at the back is filled with brushes I don’t tend to use a lot, and then in the glass container, I have all of my eye brushes stored. There’s a small silver container at the back that holds my most used products or items I want to test out like concealers, eye liners, primers etc.  The foundations you see there are all the ones I’m currently using. Well, actually I need to repurchase my L’Oreal True Match and my Maybelline BB Cream, so those are just kind of there to remind me!

013

On the right side of my cubby, I store my large eye shadow palettes in a file organizer. That Classy Bitches box is for bandaids that my friend gave me for my birthday. The few face products I have there are for a couple foundations/BB Creams I rarely use and then my setting sprays.

Makeup Drawers

014The top two drawers of this organizer is where I keep the rest of my makeup.

015

The bottom of the two drawers holds items I don’t necessarily reach for that much. At the back I have false eyelashes and the giant travel container that came with the Tarte Carried Away palette. Then there’s some face sponges from Sephora (I bought when I first started getting into makeup and I hardly use). I have a small container of sample primers. The container near the front stores mascaras that I don’t like or other concealers/gels I don’t use right now. The long container holds all my eye pencils, pencil eyeliners, and some lip liners.

016

This drawer is organized so nicely! At the back right, I have a face powder, a bronzer and a blush. In the back left container I store smaller eye palettes I don’t reach for frequently, as well as eye creams/pigments I rarely use and a couple blushes I don’t use a lot either. The container on the front left is filled with the rest of my eye shadow palettes. These ones I tend to use more often to. The tiny square container inside the other container has the three L’Oreal Infallible eye shadows and one of the Maybelline eye colour tattoos in it. The rest of the container holds an old bronzer palette, a gel eyeliner, two other eye studio tattoos, some colourpop eye shadows I have and three blushes that I use most often!

There you have it! Hope you enjoyed! If there is anything you’d like to see a review on, let me know! 🙂
