Okay guys, I think I’m back. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to get back into writing, and I just haven’t felt the tug to continue with the book I started writing just yet, but I’ve wanted to get back into posting on this blog. I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep my blog domain name the same but for now it stays, along with all of my old posts in case you want to make me cringe while you read them.
I really want to focus this blog mostly on beauty and fitness. I love makeup; that’s a fact. But, I just recently received a Fitbit from my parents this Christmas and I’m trying hard this year to focus on becoming the best me that I can be and that means getting healthy. So I’m thinking some weekly Fitbit updates, posts on me trying out new recipes etc. I don’t want to focus too much on the scale – as that is what has kept me from continuing on getting fit in the past; I am very impatient and when I don’t see results, I quit. So, I will not be weighing myself regularly.
My aim for this blog in 2018 will be to do at least one post a week. That can’t be too hard, can it?
So, for my first post back (along with this lovely update for you all) is ….. a Project Pan for 2018!
If you don’t know what a Project Pan is, well it’s really simple. You pick a variety of products (mainly beauty) that you aim to hit “pan” on or use up by the end of the year. I love watching these videos on YouTube. My favourite person to watch for this is Andréa Matillano and I will link her channel here.
I, like most people starting this project in 2018, am aiming to hit pan on/use up 18 products for this year! Below are the products that I will include in this project pan!
This is the Prep-Start moisturizer from Clinique. It has an SPF of 20, and I use it before I prime my face for the day. I bought it at the check-out at Sephora and so far I like it.
These are the two primers that I am including. The MAC Prep & Prime I received in an ipsy bag. I find it hard sometimes to use up samples and while the primer does work, I would like to clear it out of my collection. The Maybelline Master Prime primer in Blur & Smooth I have had for a while. I LOVE their primer for redness control but I just never reach for other primers over that one. That’s why I need to use this one so that I haven’t wasted my money, and again to clear it out of my collection.
The three foundations I really want to focus on using up this year are the Estee Lauder Double Wear in the shade Cool Bone, the Make Up Forever Ultra HD mini-foundation in the shade R230 and the Maybelline Dream BB cream in the shade 100. I have had the Estee Lauder DW for almost 2 years now and I’m almost done it. I probably should throw it out soon but I only have a couple uses out of it left. The MUFE foundation I received in an ipsy and it’s a great match for my skin tone. I really like the coverage of it but I just need to use it up (and maybe I’ll buy a full size in the future). I used to love the Maybelline BB cream but I often wear more medium coverage foundations now. I’m going to try to use this foundation mostly in the spring and summer when I want more of a lighter coverage.
I don’t know if I like this powder that much, but I only have used it a few times and have already hit pan on it. So, it just seems like I can use this up quick and declutter from my collection.
This bronzer is my all-time favourite! I only recently discovered it at the beginning of last year and it is the perfect shade for the pale people out here! I’ve only ever purchased one of these bronzers and I have used it almost every single day since I started using it back in April or so, and I only just hit pan on it! To use up a whole bronzer would make me feel very much accomplished!
While it may seem like I only have a little bit left of the Tarte blush, let it be known that it took me almost 3 years to get to that point. Now it is my goal to finish up a full blush! And I think I can finish this one quickly. My aim for the Hard Candy product is only for the blush; I have never used the bronzer that came with it. I love the coral/peach blushes. Blush is not something I purchase often and I would like to declutter some from my collection. These two are some of my oldest/well-loved blushes that I want to try and finish before tossing them.
I think the shade name of the NYX eyeshadow single has rubbed off, but it’s a normal brown shade. I own plenty of the same colour in several palettes and would just like to use up and declutter from my collections. The lip liner I use quite often and only have a little bit left. I would probably purchase it again when I finish it.
I have too many mascaras! I need to finish some up before I repurchase them again! I’ve only been using the Essence Lash Princess for the past few months and I love it. It was one of the items I bought because of several YouTubers who recommended it. I will definitely re-purchase. The NYC mascara I used to love but since I’ve been using the Lash Princess, I’ve just forgotten about all of my other mascaras in general. I have two of the NYC mascaras “open” and would potentially like to use both of them up; however, we will start with the two above and add in more if necessary.
Again, like blush, highlighter is not something I purchase often. I love my Mary Louminizer but I would like to try more highlighter without collecting too much. Once I can use this up, then I can try out a different one. The Butter Gloss I’ve had for a while and I think the Butter Glosses are my favourite consistency for a lip gloss. Tiramisu is a nude shade that looks great on its own or with any nude/pink lipstick.
I love these mini palettes from Tarte. They are probably the only brand that I would fork out almost $30 for a mini palette like so. But they get lost in my collection. My focus would be to just hit pan on all the shades (not necessarily use up entirely) and I think this could be doable as Tarte is known for having a powdery formula (which I love).
This palette has been neglected. I bought this for myself for my birthday almost 3 or 4 years ago I believe and I just don’t reach for it anymore. But I can’t bear to get rid of it quite yet. My goal, like the Tarte palette, is to hit pan on as many shades as possible. Most of the matte shades are close to pan but it will be harder for the darker shimmer shades.
So, these are my 18 picks for my project pan! If I finish any of the items before the end of the year, I will rotate in something else that I think will be doable (foundations/mascaras) etc. I’m going to try and post quarterly updates for my PP 2018. If you guys have any recommendations on who to follow or watch for more Project Pans, let me know! Will you be attempting a project like this for 2018?
See you next week!
